`A`ali`i Planting

| Since the early 1970's various groups have conducted reforestation and revegetation projects on Kaho`olawe. In 1985 the Native Hawaiian Plant Society on Maui conducted extensive plantings of wiliwili, `a`ali`i, akulikuli, ma`o hau hele, etc. in areas near Lua Makika. Continuing efforts are underway to revegetate Kaho`olawe with native Hawaiian plants well suited to this environment. |
