The new Koror-Babeldaop Bridge

On a my last trip to Palau, in July 2001, the weather was great and there was time enough to snap off a few pictures, including Koror and the Rock Islands.

As of 10/29/01. I just received word from Joan Carl at Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. that the Government of Palau decided that the Bridge will be open to traffic on the 11th of January 2002 and the Opening Ceremony is scheduled on the same day. Joan was kind enough to send some recent photos of the completed bridge. It looks great and I look forward to the day when I can return to Palau and drive on it.

On (9/17/01) I got word from Nippon Koei Co.,Ltd., the consultants on the bridge project, that as the bridge nears completion work is being done on the pavement, guardrail and the lighting of the bridge. The bridge will be completed by the end of December and is expected to open to public in January 2002.

As of July, 8, 2001, the Koror - Babeldaop Bridge is almost complete. The middle section arrived in June but due to the flooding caused by the tropical depression that month, installation was delayed.

Stay tuned for more pictures and features to come.
